Tenor for Opera and Concert
After his vocal studies at the Hanover University of Music and Drama (Germany), the tenor Jan Kristof Schliep has been a member of the ensemble of the TfN · Theater für Niedersachsen (Theatre for Lower Saxony) for nine years.
Since 2016, he is a specialized freelance performer of character roles in opera. He is particularly known for his clear diction and his »continuous presence on the stage«, which are regularly attributed to him.
His concert repertoire is broad and includes works spanning five centuries, from the works by Schütz and the Evangelists in oratorios by Bach to the extreme part in Orff's "Carmina Burana". But also lyrical parts, such as Uriel in Haydn's "The Creation" and the solo tenor in Bruckner's "Te Deum", belong to his concert repertoire.
His love for the German songs and lyrics of the 1920s to 1940s inspired Jan Kristof Schliep to put together his vaudeville show "There is more to the night than sleeping ...", in which he also demonstrates his artistic and magic skills.
